Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar is a Ganda-Bandh Shagird of Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Saheb. He learned under Ustad Amir Hussain Khan Saheb for 13 years. After Khan Saheb’s passing, he learned from Ustad Ahmadjan Thirakawa Saheb for 3 years. His original training was from Ustad Atta Hussain Khan Saheb of Rampur.

Pandit Mulgaonkar is an accomplished artist and he has been associated with the art of Tabla for the last 50 plus years. A sample list of his awards and credits include:

•State Award from the Govt. of Maharashtra in 1992 for excellence in instrumental music.
•Award of Senior Fellowship from Govt. of India, Dept. of Culture for 1995 / 1996.
•‘Swara Sadhana Ratna’ award from Swar Sadhana Samiti, Mumbai on 8th March 2003.
•ITC Sangeet Research Academy Award, 2006 for his lifelong and dedicated services to Indian classical music on 5th January,2007.
•Iyer Foundation, Mumbai, Award, 2007 for his lifetime achievement in music on 10th March,2007.
•Late Mrs.Vasundhara Pandit Memorial Award, 2007 for his immense contribution to Indian classical music on 26th July, 2007.

Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar is also an accomplished author. Most people recognize him with his authorship of “Tabla”, originally published in 1976 in Marathi. Since then; he has published “Gushtaki Maaf”, which was for private circulation, “Athavanincha Doha” and his latest release “Ijajat”.

“Ijajat” is the latest addition to Mulgaonkar-ji’s repertory. This book, again in Hindi; contains only Pandit Mulgaonkar-ji’s exclusive compositions including the ones from his book: “Gushtaki Maaf”. More specifically, this book contains 22 Kaida’s from Lukhnow, Ajrada and the Delihi Gharana in Vistaar (Mukh, Paltas & Tihai), 20 Kaidas, again from Lukhnow, Ajrada and the Delihi Gharana with Mukh only, followed by 27 Gat Tukdas and finally, 35 Gats from the Lukhnow, Ajrada, Punjab and the Delhi Gharana. This book is also accompanied with a DVD where Pandit Mulgaonkar himself shows the Nikas and the Padanth of his compositions.

Pandit Arvind Mulgaonkar also has to his credit a 2 VCD set entitled "Rare Treasures of the Farukabad Tradition". The first VCD is a demonstration of various traditional tabla bols and pharases. The second VCD is a compilation of 38 rare compositions as performed by the original masters such as Ustd. Amir Hussain Khan, Ustd. Munir Khan, Ustd. Thirakawa, Pdt. Khante Maharaj, Ust. Hidayat Ali Khan, Khalifa Haji Vilayat Ali Khan etc. Pandit Mulgaonkar himslef demonstrates these compositions.

Hello, Please could you let me know the price for Athavanincha Doha and Ijaazat. I am interested in the VCD if they are not dubbed over by someone else, I prefer the original audio from Panditji. Thank you. Postage will be to Mumbai.
