I am thinking about learning sarod. Where can I get a good quality one for US $500 or less?

$500.00 Is a tall order to find something that low - even for a beginner instrument - Try the lincs at left especially Ali Akbar College. I do not want to discourage you whatsoever but save up the extra couple hundred & get a decent starter from a reputable source - Check with Lars at his great new site Rain City Music to see if he might have a resonable used one or Keshav in NYC. Kala Kendar also has nice goods but again the minimum figure is around the 750 to 800 mark. DO NOT BUY A CHEAP EBAY "PROFESSIONAL SAROD" you will only be unhappy in the long run. Stick with the afforementioned reputable dealers & let them help guide you. Good Luck.
