Can anyone give gauges for strings used in reheading for both the daya and baya? And can you suggest a source for these materials? Thanks for your help!

Strapping usually doesn't come in "gauges" but is just measured in inches or mm. Typical width is .4 inches or 10mm with a thickness around 2mm or .1 inches. I have a variety of strapping specifically for Tabla and ship worldwide.

Thanks David for your reply, but I wasn't referring to strapping, but rather to the string placed under the kinar. I've read that kite string is good for the Daya.

it should be thick enough to raise the kinar from the main skin, but not too thick, preferably cotton thread with thickness between 0.5mm to 0.8mm
you can try experimenting with different threads, and choose the one that makes you feel right.
