Ustad Latif Ahmed Khan - tabla solo in chautal (12 beats)

Chautal is a 12 beat cycle originally played on the pakhawaj but here played on a tabla tuned one octave lower than usual. Towards the end he introduces another dayan tuned an octave higher and alternates between them to create a kind of question and response interplay between the two.

Chautal is sometimes associated with how elephants slowly walk, a fitting image since Ganesha, the elephant god, is also frequently associated with drumming.

I don't know what else to say!

Pakhwaj Chautaal is a totally different style where you use your entire hand - and in my humble opinion another layer of difficulty -
