Is anyone else working from the art of improvisation by Henri fornier. It was written in conjunction with Pt Hariprasad Chaurasia and really is a very very good book. But in the way that it is meant to appeal to people interested in ICM  in many ways it has a number of ways in which it can be used and I would be interested to hear of other people’s experiences and ideas.

I tried searching for this book and found no results. Would love to come across it if there are any sources.

No idea, I had ordered via Amazon and when I received it it was all in French! Even though description is not. So not sure what the deal is, just returned it. Looks well done however

I had the same problem but got the seller to replace with an English edition. As to contents the book looks at five ragas. It is a brief summary of some of the course covered at Rotterdam conservatoire where CH teaches for a part of the year. Consequently it does. Ot pull any punches. But I am convinced that the book will. It teach you. You have to learn from it. And in some ways it asks more questions than it answers. There is nothing revolutionary in its content but the way it is expressed is almost a monument to the inadequacy of any notation system indian or european to write dwon improvisation and I would love to be able to ask CH about the thought processes that lead to what is played. Definitely NOT for beginners.
