Tabla Solo by Shri Satish Tare at DVHS Fundraising Concert

The title is actually not entirely accurate as it's a lovely tabla duet with Shri Satish Tare and his pupil (his son?) Vishan Menon

(there's also lots of other interesting tabla videos on his channel)

Quote:
Madhusudan alias Satish started learning Tabla at a very tender age of 5 from his father Late Shri Madhav Tare who himself was disciple of great legendary Ustad Amir Hussein Khan sahib. Later on Satish got a rigorous training from Pt. Arvind Mulgaonkar ji for almost 15 years in Mumbai. He also got guidance from Pt. Vibhav Nageshkar ji while studying Diploma in Music from Mumbai University. During his stay in Pune, he learned from Shri Vivek Joshi. Currently Satish is taking advanced training from the world renowned Tabla maestro, none other than Pt. Swapan Chaudhuri ji, in California for last 10 years. http://www.tablaniketan.com/satish_tare.php

It took me a while to figure out where the lehara was coming from, but it appears to be from his computer which is sitting between the two tabla players. It's a very nice melody on santoor, and I suspect that it may be from this free software available here ...

Whether or not this is right, the software itself is excellent. It is an extensive suite of software for studying Indian Classical music, one component of which makes it quite simple to put in your own lehara melody played on santoor.

I'm curious as to whether or not anyone else has used it or not.

Terrific ... I forgot about that short demo video showing how to use the various components. Have you used it much yourself?
