Hi there is there anyone out there who can opoint me in the direction of a good tabla teacher in goa, preferably in the North Baga beach area even better.
Going there for Three weeks over Christmas this year and I am looking for a patient teacher who can teach a very good western rhythms tribal drum player some of the basics... A daunting task for sure but a willing pupil all the same any advice appreciated....
Regards
Peter Marsh

Maruti Kurdikar, if he is still there. Disciple of Pt. Taranath, teaches at Kala Academy.

I know this guy Marc who's from/lives in Brighton UK. I was thinking of mentioning him but when I met him earlier this year it was in south Goa near Palolem so I didn't say.
He's very competent & watchful. Although he hasn't e-mailed me since I left Goa in January  You never ring, you never call

I played sitar with Rohit Mishra on tabla in march this year in Varanasi. He has a lovely understated style, very compatible with sitarists.
