Hi:

A volunteer group to learn tabla playing has been formed at BAPS Harimandir in Fall River, MA, off Exit 7 Interstate Hwy 195. In the next few months, BAPS Harimandir will move to Sharon, MA, at a state-of-the-art location off Interstate Hwy 495 and Route 1, near Foxborough Stadium.

The instructor is a teacher/learner/engineer/traveller/philosopher with a passion for both Global, Indian and Western music, especially North Hindustani music, art, culture, languages and spirituality.

The group has met three times and have had explolatory and planning sessions to develop a path and set educational goals. It is a basic level learning situation with no financial cost and open to those with a set of tabla. The sessions will be in English for most part with the usage of other languages, as needed for cross-cultural experience.

As a pilot set-up, the group plans to meet every Sunday from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm and the size will be set at 12-16 people (the facility and the educational goals are limiting factors).

While the participants are from the Harmandir and BAPS organization, a suggestion was made to invite and open it the surrounding community and to all ages, while the slots are open on a first-come-first-serve basis. If you have an interest, then email Mokixx1@aol.com. The first Sunday in August is the time when the group will take off in tabla palying at full speed.
