Well i guess my previous post asking for the bols for the following bhajan seems to be not well recived.

I think it is becoase i am asking a question and giving nothing in return. i always want to keep my karma balanced so below are some kiadas that i am practicing.

( i am completely new to tablas so sorry if i make a mistake in writing or any other errors please feel free to correct me).

1. Warm up rela.

dha tirikite teke teke tirikite teke teke tirikite teke teke tirikite teke teke tirikite teke teke
tirikite teke tirikite teke tirikite teke.

te played as na.

2. dhate dha tirikite teke tirikete dhate dhage tuna kena
tati ta tirikite teke tirikite dhate dhage dhinna kina

veriation of the classic one.

3. dha tete dha tete dhadha tete dhage tuna kena
ta tete ta tete dhadha tete dhage dhinna gena

I hope this might help someone. i have so many qestions myself but need to make sure i contribute something even in my extremly limited knowlege base (and bad spelling)

if anyone needs help playing these please let me know i will always try and help.

I like that last quote.

Pascal

Parenthetically, since Ayn Rand has been in the news of late I can't help but contrast the above with what she might have said in response:
Quote:
the best way to lose yourself in to find yourself in the service of others!
It is a telling commentary on our times that our vice-presidential nominee is an admirer of Ayn Rand as opposed to, say, Gandhi!

Do note by the way that I allow myself this slightly off-topic remark because it is, afterall, a parenthetical remark, like I afterthought.

I'm not an expert on tabla, but the Tal played for the Krishna Bhajan on u-tube (wth my head phones) sounds like

Dhin na Dhin na Dhin na ( filled in 4 beats)
-Tin-- na tin-- ( 4 beats)
or some variation there of

While fast ( towards the end ) sounds like

Dhin Ge na Ge
dhin ge na Ge
Dhin ke na ke
tin ge na Ge
or some variation there of.

I may be wrong, or I'm perhaps listening to a different Krishna Bhajan!!.
Please give your feed back.
Thanks

You should not feel that at all, and certainly there is no expectation that getting your questions answered is subject to your giving something in return. Speaking for myself, I've listened to it a few times and while it's a lovley bhajan, I gave up trying to figure the exact theka. All I can tell for sure is it seems to be in 8 beats. One problem is the vocals seems to overwhelm the tabla.

It might perhaps be very useful if you learned some basic bhajan rhythm and variations and then be able to pick them out when you listen to them.

My own favorite bhajan groove is

dhin - | dha dhin | - dhin | na ge |
dhin - | dha tin | - tin | na ke

Take a look a some variations for Delhi Bhajan - while not exact, to my ears it sounds like a variation of the following:

Uploaded with ImageShack.us

and it sounds like this:

(This Delhi bhajan composition happened to have been included in my swarshala 2.0. It is not my own transcription).

Hope this helps,

Pascal
