Just an interesting bit of trivia on the wax in blackboard chalk (a no-no for instrument pegs). In addition to reducing squeak, the wax was added to reduce the amount of chalk dust. I remember in the 50's going to school and the teacher seeking volunteers to go out and "clap the erasers". So much dust came out of them it must not have been healthy.

Now that waxless chalkm we like so much is also used in some bird callers - a shaped bow with a wood peg you turn back and forth in a hole to attract birds while hunting. It is the waxless quality that allows the bird call. Hmmm - maybe you should leave your pegs squeaky, play outside and have folks marvel as you attract the birds to you!
