Hmmm..
Been debating whether to post this on here or not, but just decided to.
I've asked a few people about this by email and all have declined to comment so either I'm right out of order or people are just very busy being dedicated musicians (most probably.)

So I thought I'd try to transcribe some kaidas which appeared in a YouTube video. My choice was this one because I really liked the variety and feel of these three kaidas and I really liked the vibe of this inspiring class with Pandit Divyang Vakil.

Original video is here:

My attempt is here:

So the feel of kaida 1 is not so great in mine.. it does not flow quite as well as when played by those great students.. also I can hear that the khali in mine is slightly wrong.. I tried to work with the second variation but it's not quite right.

Any other feedback from anyone who might be familiar with this material? Does the transcription look about right?

Thanks!
Marc

This is a very popular Ajrada Kayda watch Pt Anindo Chatterjee's interpretation here

Transcription from VTR attached. See bottom half of page 179 for executing at faster speeds where 'Na's' are removed.

Wow,
Nkodikal thank you so much for pointing me to these resources.
Ironically I was going to look in the big VTR but hadn't got round to it... Now I know where to find it.
This performance is very humbling.. I take it this one is in Jhaptal?

Thanks again
and thanks, Pascal,

M.

Great to see the 'real' transcription.. although there seem to be a few differences between this and the one in the video.
First off the most striking difference is that both first half and second half end with 'dhi ne dhi na ge na'.
In the video, Divyangji is pointing out the 'ti ne ti na ke na' at the end of the first half.. which would seem the logical ending before khali begins...

Interesting...!
