Hi. Just 1 opinion - hope it helps:
Having myself an idea of the weight of tradition in ICM/sitar (& IF I understood You so far...), I'd say if You do like to play a 20-fret sitar, choose going w/ the teacher who ALLOWS for that !

I learnt from Chandranath Bhattacharya for 4 years. Without any hesitation I can tell Sushanta Chowdhury is much better as a teacher. Mr. Bhattacharya is more into chatting with students than teaching... Couldnt learn much in 4 yrs...

Both Sushanta Chowdhury and Chandranath Bhattacharya are students of Pt. Debu Chowdhury. Sushanta Chowdhury is an A grade radio artist. Mr. Bhattacharya is a B high grade radio artist.
