Has anyone any idea how much tension is on the various strings on an "average sitar"?
Anyone ever put a tensiometer on them to find out, in pounds?

I have heard that an average acoustic guitar can place around 180-200 Lbs on a string, less on an electric.... but I dunno...

I'm no math wizard, but I'm assuming that the longer the string the more tension....but on a sitar... I have no clue at all. I'd be interested to know about the tarafs as well....I wonder how much difference would occur with slightly higer or lower tunings in our ranges for this instrument.

Thanks in advance.....

The average string tension for a six string guitar is a total of 180 to 200 lbs based on a scale length of 25.5".
Individually the strings roughly are 22 to 28lbs, based on a "Jazz" gaged set.
I would think a Karaj string would be less...
But I could be wrong....
