Someone- I think it was Drew? recommended the recent CD- Synergy some time ago and after special ordering from my local CD shop I finally got it. The worda "amazing" and fantastic" don't do it justice. Ustedji outdoes, in my experience, even his most astounding recorded repoirtoire. But this isn't just the most technically unbelievable display in recent memory- it is also very deep with beautiful alaps and minipulations with tal that are simply mind-boggling, especially his deepchandi gat. To make it even more desirable, it is possibnly the best recording of a sitar I have heard- very smooth, up front, and sweet tone. Same with the tabla , which are played by Kumar Bose and are another highlight of this great double CD. Hopefully this new label- Sense World Music will do more with ICM. Just had to ashare this little "review" with everyone.

Hey sitarman,
I will pick that one up. Sense World music seems to do great CDs, recording wise. I have one with desh, relatively new, last year i think, from that publisher and it is a great recording. I listen to music with senheiser HD650 with a fancy pre amp, dac and transport and it is very clean and detailed.

thanks,
Pb

Jeez- after reading that review, I went and ordered it on line. I also ordered a copy of Ravi Shakar, Live a Monteray as I've never heard the whole thing.

On the topic of Shahid Parviz, has anyone checked out the video of his playing Puriya Kalyan on Patrick Moutal's website. I hadnt seen it there before. It is a section well into the teental gat, and he plays some wonderfully intricate and inventive tans which flow into the mukhda so beautifully, you will be astounded. Check it out if you havent seen it already.
