Hello again

looking at the pic on this website....link below http://chandrakantha.com/articles/indian_music/sarangi/sarangi_fingering.html

the last notes on the first string goes way down the skin area....i thought players dont venture down the belly of the sarangi.....

You can easily play to high Sa,which is halfway down the skin from the edge towards the bridge, this is standard playing technique- and some players play to Pa above that, and even higher, which is into the bowing portion of the string.

Look at Dilshad Khan's playing here at 1:44, he hits high Pa.



If your sarangi is set up well, the finger won't touch the skin, at least above the initial inch or so where it might, it will float above the skin against the string.
