Hi all,

Been a while since I've posted...

I just released a new recording online (streaming only) of a tabla concerto by American composer, Payton MacDonald. The tabla materials are traditional, but the accompaniment, while certainly inspired by tradition, is something quite different. The composer has himself studied tabla (with our Guru, Pt. Sharda Sahai-ji) and dhrupad voice (with the Gundecha brothers), so has an excellent grasp of the tradition. I personally enjoy playing his concertos very much.

I hope you enjoy it!

SUPERB! Is the full recording available for purchase on iTunes, or is this a Single?

Thanks for your kind words! For the moment, it's only available via streaming from my website. The rest of the album will be made up of other compositions written for the McGill Wind Orchestra; nothing else with tabla, unfortunately. Hopefully once the entire album becomes available, the music will be available for download.

For now, please feel free to visit my website as often as you like to listen.

Best regards,
Shawn
