Could this seller be mistaken? I'm not bidding on this instrument, but I'm very interested in learning what is real and what isn't.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=220247896080&indexURL=3#ebayphotohosting

I don't see a badge on this sitar so I don't know why the seller believes this to be a Rikhi Ram. I would appreciate a comment or two from forum members so I can increase my knowledge of vintage instruments.

Thanks In Advance,
Allen

Near the bottom of the auction is the q@a section where uses can ask questions and the seller can elect to make the q@a public. Someone asked how they knew it was an RR sitar. The seller's response was "I apologize. I did omit that information from the listing!! The crate that the sitar is in bears the label Rikhi Ram on it. I do not know if they labeled their instruments any other way, I was only going on the fact that the instrument was shipped in a crate with the paper label on it. I have a pic of the label, but could not post it to the listing, I was at my limit for pictures and felt that the more pics of the instrument were more important. I apologize for the omission. Thanks "

The odd thing is that the place on the neck where a badge would go is decorated with penwork.
It seems to have never had a badge.
Why would Rikhi Ram build a sitar and then not label it with a badge?
I am figuring this is an off brand maker sitar that happens to be in a Rikhi Ram case.
I certainly wouldnt buy it expecting to get a Rikhi Ram.
But who knows. Could be mistaken.
