So I have retuned my rudra vin from G to F. The hands are not getting any stronger as I get older. I find the easier mir a godsend.

Now to start work on the jawari. The instrument still has good sound but on the baj it is a bit too twangy if I "strike" rather than "stroke" the string.

Just sharing.

Michael,
On his recording, 'The Tradition Of Dhrupad On Been', Shamsuddin's instrument
seems to be tuned to around F. It's interesting too, in the booklet, it mentions
that the playing strings are tuned to (low) GA, (low) PA, SA, MA.

The Dagarbhani tuning is (low) SA, (low) PA, SA, MA.
How are you tuning?

I am tuning S P S M (from low to hi). I am taught to keep the low Pa always tuned to Pa, even for a raga like Malkauns. It took a little getting used to but now it is quite natural.
