Tattaglia's a pimp, he never coulda outfought Santino!

Tony, on a loosely related note, do you do surbahar string sets, or just sitars? Curious what you use for the kharaj, a wound string, or the traditional unwound? And what gauge is recommended for taraf on surb?

Good question! I'll have a look when I get home. I'm unsure if the symps are labelled with gauge, but I'll have a look...you did send plenty o' strings. I need to spend some saturday afternoon giving it a full restring.

Hey, Nic. I have nothing in Surb strings. Blatant miserable shortcoming that must be addressed. Past experience tells me that tape (flat) wound strings are the way to go for the kharaj. Being wound, thet lay down perfectly on the bridge surface and maintain a more traditional smooth surface string sound. The round wound strings tend to sound Veenaish or lean to a "Southie" tanpura prrrrrrrrrrr as well as chew up the bridge.

If you need something, I have some I can send you from here in the UK. Are you using 4, 5 or 6 for your first string?
