Now THAT is an interesting story I'd love to hear more about!

Hi Michael,

well some sitars are unfakeable. Hiren Roy and Kanai Lal especially, as long as they are not VK style.
The carving and general style is of such quality that it is impossible to replicate.
Anybody capable of producing that kind of workmanship would establish his own brand rather than turn out fakes.
Even then, you would have to have many years of experience and seen thousands of sitars to be able to really tell. That kind of eye needs sharpening over a long period of time.

Agreed. Some are undoubtedly identifiable Max

Just arrived. Fingers crossed it's not in the condition of the other one that recently arrived!

Gods be good! Zero damage. Just way out of tune, which I'm totally okay with. 😉

A really beautiful piece. The seller's eBay pictures didn't do it justice.

Will follow up with a tune-up and video of it played!

For those interested, it turned out to be a great sitar, and a great buy. Here is a video of my teacher playing with it after tuning it up for me.
