This ties very nicely with the thesis of Bade Ghulam Ali Khan. There is a 20 mts interview available on Patrick Moutal's site(http://homepage.mac.com/patrickmoutal/macmoutal/rag.html) : item 39 under .mp3

It's in Urdu.

Here is a the first sentence "Khuda ne jab hamayen paida kiya hai duniya main, tau sehron mey sur baate gaya hain"

Rough translation: When God brought us forth in this world, he gifted notes to cities.

This is not as strange as it sounds if one keeps the analogy of language with music.

There are many other interesting aspects discussed, like obtaining six basic scales from one scale by changing the tonic (murchanna)
