There is such an abundance of nice Ragamalas ( Ragamalika , Raagsagar ) out there , that I want to group some of them together in this topic .

The legendary M S Subbulakshmi will begin with the legendary " Dasavatara stotra " from Gita Govinda, by Jayadev, a 12th century poet from Orissa .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jayadeva

1) Bhairav - Mayamalavagowla ( Carnatic )
2) Bhupali or Deshkar - Mohanam ( Cn )
3) Jaijaivanti - Dwijavanthi
4) Malkauns - Hindolam
5) Kedar - Hamir Kalyani
6) Patdeep
7) Bihag - Behag
8] Durga - Shudha Saveri
9) Puriya Dhanashree or Basant - Basanth
10) Brindavani Sarang - Brindavani Saranga
11) Bhairavi - Sindhubhairavi

As a commodity , most of the raga infos from both traditions have been kindly provided in the comment section .

" Bhaja Govindam " written by Shankaracharya .

Another classic rendered by M S Subbulakshmi .

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adi_Shankara
Quote:
Adi Shankara, along with Madhva and Ramanuja, was instrumental in the revival of Hinduism. These three teachers formed the doctrines that are followed by their respective sects even today. They have been the most important figures in the recent history of Hindu philosophy. In their writings and debates, they provided polemics against the non-Vedantic schools of Sankhya, Vaisheshika etc. Thus they paved the way for Vedanta to be the dominant and most widely followed tradition among the schools of Hindu philosophy.

It has to be noted that it is generally considered that for Shankara the Absolute Reality is attributeless and impersonal, while for Madhva and Ramanuja, the Absolute Truth is Vishnu. This has been a subject of debate, interpretation, and controversy since Shankara himself is attributed to composing the popular 8th century Hindu devotional composition Bhaja Govindam (literal meaning, "Worship Govinda"). This work of Adi Shankara is considered as a good summary of Advaita Vedanta and underscores the view that devotion to God, Govinda, is not only an important part of general spirituality, but the concluding verse drives through the message of Shankara: "Worship Govinda, worship Govinda, worship Govinda, Oh fool! Other than chanting the Lord's names, there is no other way to cross the life's ocean". Bhaja Govindam invokes the almighty in the aspect of Vishnu; it is therefore very popular not only with Sri Adi Shankaracharya's immediate followers, the Smarthas, but also with Vaishnavas and others.
1) Yaman Kalyani - Yaman Kalyan
2) Brindavana Saranga - Vrindavani Sarang
3) Pantuvarali - Puriya Dhanashree
4) Bageshree
5) Behag - Bihag
6) Nadanamakriya ( Janya of Mayamalavagowla ) - [ Hindustani equivalent ? ]
7) Kapi - Piloo ( Piloo / Mishra Kafi )
8] Mohanam - Bhupali
9) Senjurutti - Jhinjhoti
!0 ) Sindhu Bhairavi - Bhairavi / Sindhu Bhairavi

The corresponding raga info is to be found on numerous sites .

For me the verses with Nadanamakriya and Senjurutti are confusing , because in the first one sometimes komal re is clearly heard , but when there is a meend from ma to Sa , I believe to hear shuddh re ...
Then the second one , though recognized as the carnatic equivalent of Jhinjhoti , does not have a recognizable komal ni , at least for my ears . Maybe it is only in the grace notes , very subtly , or who knows where...

Quote:
Raag Mala
Few Raagmala are Prachaleet in Pustimarg : -
In short, Raagmala is a type which is sung on few occasions in which it has few raagas mixed together formed in one kirtan itself like in first line some raag is sung and the same raag is not repeated like in normal kirtans we do.In the second line some differnt Raag is sung.
Taal Mala
These Raagas when changed in the very next line is changed with different taal's also
in few Kirtans of Raagmala not all.
