I want to ask another question regarding raga with particular scale. Does someone knows what's the most common raga based on Bhairav thaat and having also komal Ni. Ej:

S r G M P d n S

This is also a middle eastern scale I believe I had listened to in hindustani music sometime. Anyone?

Carnatic equivalent would be the 14th melakarta:

Basant Mukhari is more or less the same as Hijaz Bhairav, and yes, both qualify.

As it happens, I just ran across a good recording of this...Basant Mukhari by Ust Imrat Khan on "Bahar of Surbahar". I'd listened to it before but never really known about the raga itself. Interesting variant of Bhairav. Or one could say a variant of Bhairavi with shuddh gandhar.
