Hi guys,

I am considering buying a new set of tablas and was wondering if any of you could share your experiences of buying through online vendors. I had bought a drum from Ali Akbar College a while back, when I started playing. At the time it was advertised as one of their best drums, but the quality was not what I had expected. The na on the drum didnt have good sustain. Unforunately at the time I didn't have the knowledge to know a good drum from a bad one so I didn't return it. I am considering getting a drum from sitars etc, but I am not familiar with the makers on there. I am basically looking for a professional sounding drum, with good sustain in the na stroke. For example what is a DMS drum and who is Rikhi Ram Sanjay Sharma. Are these reputable brands or makers? I have been getting mixed info as far as what drums sound better ex: delhi, calcatta etc. If you guys could help me out or lead me in the right direction that would be cool. Thanks!
