Hi,
As a beginner , i bought this sitar used from a guitar player, who at times played this instrument.
I am planning to buy another from Lars but i thought i did post this on the web to get some feedback.
This was bought mainly to train and have changed a couple of broken strings.
Do advise if you see something out of place.

It looks like a not bad Lucknow made sitar. We call all sitars of this quality Lucknow sitars rather than Kolkatta/Calcutta made ones as they're nearly always of inferior wood etc. This looks OK for now.

Nice score. From all the previous reports from many here those Lucknow sitars are some real sleeping gems. Their sound is supposed to be very sweet with sparkling symp response. Keep us updated on your clean up - update of this lil' beauty.

Just had an email from my friend in Varanasi that went to Amritsar before & got that lovely Hiren Roy with its original toombi.
OMG He said he was going again after I'd have gone 'home'. He sent new pics of some oldies OOHHHH. Firstly a really nice BLACK surbahar that one of the teachers has played already there. A Naskar's WITH toombi?!!?!?, another Sarat Sardar, A Sur Sangam store in Kolkatta, a half Munda & several others too.
I'll put the pics up on facebook & post the link later.
