I have done two of these classes and got wonderful slow & fast gats in Sindhu Bhairavi and Bilaskhani Todi from the class as well as some great tips on how to prepare for a raga.

It is at least 90 minutes long and sometimes 2 hours that you can watch repeatedly. Though he does everything in C i.e. Sa = C which is too low for my sitars but easily fixed by pitch adjustment software.

Hello Friends,

We are happy to announce our next Online Instrumental Workshop with Alam Khan (son of the late Maestro Ali Akbar Khan). These workshops are attended by people from all over the world who don't have either the access or funds needed to study with teachers such as Alam. It is our goal to provide this service to all of you through these workshops so that you can have the chance to study this beautiful music wherever you may be. This workshop will be held on Sat. June 28th from 10:00 am - 12:00 pm PST.

This workshop will focus on a morning raga and will mainly consist of Alap and Composition for Intermediate-Advanced level players. All instruments are welcome, as it is the music and raga which are the focus and not necessarily the technique of a particular instrument.

We offer our workshops at the affordable fee of $20. In order for us to be able to charge such a small fee, we need your help in getting the word out. The more students we have in attendance helps us to cover our costs. Your payment must be received no later than June 27th to attend. After you have registered and made your payment, a password will be sent to your email closer to the date of the workshop. Please follow this link to register and make your payment http://aacm.org/workshops/.

For those interested: in addition to the workshop, we are offering a special deal for students new to AACM. If you would like to have your workshop cost go towards weekly classes with Alam Khan, you will receive not only $20 off but $30 off our Summer Session. The eight week session is offered online one class per week. These recorded classes can be reviewed any time during the session. The cost for our Summer Classes with your $30 discount is $345. One of the benefits of Alam's weekly online class is the option of two-way video, in which the student and teacher can both see and hear one another.

Alam will continue the Raga which is covered in the workshop for those of you that wish to study further. We encourage you to take advantage of this offer and opportunity to study remotely with Alam Khan.

If you are interested in taking Summer Classes or have any questions about the workshop please email us at office@aacm.org, or call us at 415-454-6372.

I actually have been around, but not much to add to the discussions about buying and selling instruments.

There seems to be much less discussion about the music, about ragas and learning to play better nowadays.

Valid point!
I'm all for learning to playing better, any references regarding palta work. It seems that it's strongly recommended to do these. I was searching online earlier, there doesn't seem to be much info. However, you a man of great knowledge, understanding and resourceful, what would you suggest as exercises. Besides the normal SRG RGM etc.
Blessings
