The Ali Akbar College of Music is pleased to announce a special Sitar workshop by Sitar virtuoso Purbayan Chatterjee this Sunday, May 24th. This workshop will be for Sitarists of all levels with an emphasis on technique, phrasing, and exercise.

Please take advantage of this opportunity to study with an exceptional Sitarist online or at the Ali Akbar College of Music. The more interest we have in our online workshops, the more we can offer to the public in the future. Please help share the word friends.

Those interested in taking this workshop online will be sent a password link after registering. Links will be sent out closer to May 24th. We will accept registration up until Saturday, May 23rd.
If you cannot take this workshop in real time online, then you can access the archived footage after the class takes place.

This was very good and worth getting access to even now as the stuff that was shown does not really need you be live in real time.

Not sure if it is still available bit worth checking out.

Special meend exercises that I have never seen anywhere else
How to play Kharaj / Laraj in alap and jod
Special ornaments like Harkat and sarodi baaj and what are optimal qualities of a sitar vs.sarod e.g. murkis are a signature sitar expression that are not done as much on sarod
Gamak exercises
Daily practice structure -- paltas, gamak, alankars and bolang to maintain hands and taiyari
Bol Ang routines
Some advice on Jod

Very interesting set of exercises to develop gat layakari around a rhythmic pattern


Very info packed class -- well worth the money in my opinion
