Hi, all - hope life's good.

As I was practicing a couple of hours ago, I heard this crack-noise & upon inspection, the tip of the symp-string hook on the metal langot broke.

Just the tip - the rest is still holding to its hole.

So here I am, left w/ a dhrupad-sitar & remembering one of the greatest binkars:

The broken portion should pull out with a little help. If not, loosen main strings and remove. Remove the screw holding the langot in place and gently break it free exposing more of the broken langot post to remove. Fit and replace with a new one.

You might be able to ( and recommended ) loosen all the taraf strings, pull out the tail post and set all the taraf string loops onto a temporary post ( pencil will do ). Replace the broken bone post with a brass post. If thin enough, a scrap fret will do. Taper to fit and reinstall the strings as one bundle. Play on.
