'The most difficult instrument'?...that would be the voice. Shame on this whole generation of instrument fanatics. Even knowledgeable tabla players hold Ust. Amir Khan in higher esteem than Ahmedjan Thirakwa or Zakir Hussain.

In the end I think any instrument or voice is capable of delivering a very powerful messge/feeling/experience when it is used to the fullest of its capabilities. I think the hardest thing, regardless of instrument, is to take knowledge and technical proficiency and to use it to produce music which perfectly conveys its intended feeling, emotion or thought. People who lack in technical abilities and knowledge of their mediums often have difficulty finding the right voice that they wish to speak for them. It is much easier to explore what sounds you wish to invoke when you are knowledgable about your instrument and able to apply that knowledge musically. Maybe I'm rambling but I think regardless of what you use to make music, to do it with as much perfection and proficiency while retaining so much emotion is the true challenge.

No harm no foul Alan, I should be more accurate. The Sarangi is one of the most wonderful instruments in my world. Sadly I've never seen a live performance of any sort. I would definately take the chance if something comes by here in Chicago.
