Hi all,

I live in the place where no tabla is available in shops 1000km around (Irkutsk, Russia), but still I want to purchase it. I'm looking for concert quality instrument. There's a lot of "professional tabla" on eBay from $100 and up, and being unable to read the quality by the picture I'm just afraid to buy there.

Can anyone recommend the model, the manufacturer, or the shop where professional tabla can be found (with delivery either to USA or worldwide) ?

Thank you,
Jury.

The best tablas are made here in Varanasi where I am at the moment. Prices before postage range from about $100 but are beautiful instruments.
They're sent out to even Delhi & Kolkatta.

Nick, can you recommend any (trusted contact there to sell/ship the tabla?

$100 is a perfect price (most of my other percussion is more expensive, egypt darbuka or spanish cajon for $300 is considered like a normal price .

Sorry for the offtopic... but I hope you mean a mother of pearl inlayed darbuka from some well-known egyptian maker! And regarding cajon... yeah that

Something to consider if you are very far from any Tabla resources. This was designed with folks like yourself in mind who would have a hard time with maintenance, head changes, etc, if using a standard Tabla.

Most expensive tabla on the market right now, but also takes the place of at least 2 drums or even 3.

Best of luck,
