Dear, Namaste,

I would like to learn more about playing the Sarangi.
So far I have had it for 2months and made very little progress.

Unfortunately I can not afford what most Sarangi teachers are charging thus I will be honest and sincere enough to make a donation if you can help me.

Much appreciated.

Parashuram Bhandari has written a small but informative book giving instructions in learning sarangi, including tuning, fingering exercises, many paltas, tal, and raga exercises. It would get you going for much less than a teacher would cost, I recall about $10us. Between that and watching youtube videos of sarangi playing to observe technique you should be able to get started.

From his website-

Dear Peecebee, Namaste,

Thank you for your very informative letter.

There was a book that I found on sarangi.info website by the name of "the voice of the sarangi" by Joep Bor which I believe may be of a similar nature of the book you had mentioned.
I enjoy reading but when it comes to learning an instrument I prefer to have a hands on and visual instruction, books have never been on my side with learning instruments unfortunately.

Once again thank you and wish you happy playing brother.
