Hello,
I've come across this set of tabla and I know nothing about them. Just looking for some information if anyone can help
(What are they made of, student or professional, value, etc?)
There's a large crack in the side of the smaller one.
Thank you very much!

The only thing unusual about this is the fact that the person who set the gatta (wooden blocks) didn't know what they were doing. It does have a terra cotta bayan which isn't that common. These terra cotta bayans sound pretty good, but they are delicate. Other than that it just seems to be typical Calcutta stuff. If it were cheap I might buy it just for the bayan, but that is about it.

Peace

Again as David said, the way the blocks are positioned makes this instantly a non-quality set. I would venture to say the heads aren't well made either. That cracked Tabla shell is basically worthless, so the only thing of value as mentioned is the clay Bayan shell. Maybe $25 for the Bayan shell? A complete, good sounding copper Bayan usually sells for around $200 in the US as a comparison.
