Jody Stecher is a wonderful old-time country musician, who (as I understand it) studied ICM at AACM.

Here is a description of the recording, courtesy of Audiophileusa.com:

Description: 1982 Rarity With Insert. Stecher, Voice, Guitar; Bhatt, Voice, Sitar, Dilruba, Tabla; Fred Sokolow, Voice, 5 String Banjo, Mandolin; Jeanie McLerie, Voice, Fiddle; Kate Brislin, Voice; Nancy Schenk, Bass. Weird And Wonderful Fusion Of Indian, Country, Cajun, Bluegrass And Folk Music.

I have not heard the album, but I suspect you may be hearing the guitar or mandolin or maybe even the banjo.

It'll be the 'plucked' dilruba you can hear. If you want to download you'll have to join but it's free.

You should be able to listen but to EASILY download, join for free & then re-access the track from my link. Just below it should be a 'download' link.

Thanks for you help. I think it might be a mac compatability issue. I'm not seeing the download button. I clicked on download button on a different page where you need to sign up for spam in order to earn downloads.

How dare you insult the Apple Gharana!
Any Idea where else I can find the album? Jody Stecher's folk music is wonderful and the fact that he studied Dhrupad is fascinating.

I've never seen the album on CD yet. I sold my copy on to a friend but I should still a have a scan of the sleeve so I'll see if there's an address on it.

Hello,

I think that you will never find this album -- Rasa by Jody Stecher and Krishna Bhatt -- on CD.

When it was issued in 1982, it was of course only on vinyl.

I heard it played on the radio of WPRB in Princeton, NJ on their "Music You Can't Hear on the Radio" program. I taped two songs off the radio and longed to hear the rest of it, but could not find it (this was around 1990, still before the Internet)

I contacted the longtime DJ from that radio show. He told me that the warehouse burned down and that the masters were destroyed. He did make for me a cassette copy of his vinyl album. Someday perhaps I will convert it to MP3.

Did all that, but there is no "download" link. I think you need to proactively enable downloads in order to share.

What's happened since uploading these tracks is that they changed procedures. Every track you do has to have a box ticked by you saying 'download approved'.
