That is a contradiction, you want kartals without kartals. Kartals mean crotales.

Why don't you acquire kartal blocks and take off the kartals?

Because the ones that I listend to being played where plain pieces of wood without the "kartals"
and I really enjoyed the sound.
Sorry to be ignorant as to the correct terms, I thought "Kartal" was the name of the instrument
but thanks for putting me straight

Yes, kartals are also thin placks of wood, that sound similar to Spaniard castagnets or Irish bones. A kind of "wooden crotales".
You may make them.

Hi Nic
I have already looked at that site and in the first video the guy is playing the ones that I was looking for just plain pieces but I have searched everwhere and nobody seems to know where to buy them I have even looked in India on my last visit but no joy, as for making them I have no idea which wood they are made from what size or thickness to make them to.
As a kid I used to play the "bones" which could be made from wood, metal even plastic but they didn't sound anything near as good as the Kartals.

You could always buy regular kartals and just take out the pieces that you don't want on there. Judging by the picture it looks as easy as just cutting the metal wire they're connected by.

No the ones I am refering to are thinner and held loosley in the hand, there are no holes just plain flat pieces of wood
about 8"x3"and about 3/8ths of a inch thick all purley guess work of course.

He is good, but he has musical support. You should check videos with kartals solo.

I can make you a set of these reeeeely easy ! ! ! I've got assorted gorgeous hardwoods to choose from. Turn around time would be a few days with the required dimensions. $25.00 plus shipping along with your return address makes it happen. Message me if you'd like such a set. Cheers! Tony K

Cheers
