Hi mv

My friends who like to listen first beore they decide which cds to buy contact me on skype and I play extracts of the recordings they are interested in. Sound from HIFI speakers is picked up by the skype mike which is about 8 feet away and they get some idea of the music. This helps them to decide which cds to buy and which not to buy! My further input is to give an opinion about the quality of the recordings.

Dear Shri Tomek ,
I do not know whether you or anybody else will ever read this since the last post on this topic was more than a year back . Just in case anybody does , I would request him/her to visit http://www.alaap-agragharana.com and go to the Listen To Full Songs section for a very different and rich vocal alaap in Jaunpuri (and some others ) . The recording has certain flaws but , I promise , the alaap is very rare in style .I only hope one will judge the song by its quality and not by the name of the singer .
If you have cared to listen , kindly post your views in the site's Guestbook or write to us at alaap2010@gmail.com.

Kalyan Mukherjea (1943-2010), a rarely heard disciple of Pt. Radhika Mohan Maitra, plays Jaunpuri.

To my mind, this is the finest Jaunpuri recorded on the sarode. The meend work is simply exquisite.

This was recorded from an All India Radio medium wave broadcast.
