The highly conflicted Anoushka thread was posted Nov. 2nd.
Before it was quaranteened a few hours ago it garnered over 800 visits.

The jhala help request posted only a few days later on Nov 7th has since
that time only attracted about 160 hits. If nothing else this indicates:

1. Why Jerry Springer is making serious coin
2. Why Anoushka Shankar is becoming almost as famous as her illustrious father.
3. Why we all suck at jhala.

It is a beautiful sunny day here in the Carolinas - unless you happen to be a Turkey.
Everything I suppose depends to some extent on your point of view. Cheers.

Although I don't suck at Jhalla
I was a bit perturbed as to why I wasn't consulted about the LOCKOUT of that thread, it was me, afterall, that set it off. Couldn't the 'worst' offenders have been warned first as I feel the whole thread hadn't actually descended into chaos. It still had some good points being brought up.
It's not YOUR website you may say but we ALL contribute in some way & without the 'benefit' of we older 'players' what would be left??

Still Here

Oh BTW Trippy - I think you should feel HONORED to have come up
with a thread that actually had to be locked up and put away in a
straight-jacket. We'll see if we can come up with a plaque or some
trophy for you, which (unfortunately) you would be obliged to pass
along to the next forumistta who achieves the impossible dream.

Too late - someone has already thought of this - sitarkatz wants the trophy. "Wow, Anoushka can play!" might have been a good candidate for a locked thread if most of us weren't bored to tears by all the talk about Anoushka. I hope.

On second thoughts, maybe there ought to be a prize for the most controversial second post to this thread? Hmmm.

I've just seen even "Who is your favorite sitar player?" kicked off with Anoushka. Just what is the attraction? or are the Anoushka trolls at work?

Rats! I note that thread's second post has anticipated my comment above about second post prixes. Ranjan Maharaj the best?

Sadly not controversial enough. We all know he is the best.

There are often complaints about these message boards when a thread gets locked or pulled. It is much rarer to see just simple praise and gratitude expressed for these message boards when uncounted threads make their way to completion. Why is that?

I think all posts by this "Nick" guy from England should be nominated for either best or worst! Anyone remember him?

I actually think there is a good number of complimentary posts, especially by newbies and new members, not just to posters giving an answer to their questions but in general appreciation of the existence of the forum. Maybe less from older-established members, but I think the fact that many of these are still here speaks for itself. Id like to think too, that occasionally some of us make a useful or helpful post.

So don't despair, Michael. Anyway we know a lot of the time we can leave it to yourself to come to the forum's defence, you're so good at that.

The forums are great, certainly no complaints about the forums from this quarter.
And certainly I have benefitted even if nobody else has, and I do not mean in a
financial sense. No business has come my way from the forums, which is fine.

I have made the "virtual acquaintance" of some great people, re-connected with
some great music from my past, and had good fun along the way. If I occasionally
see incomprehensable idiocy or inappropriate rancor that is the human condition.

So, thanks and appreciation to those who started these forums and to those who
serve and maintain them. How is that Pov? Can I have my trophy now? Please? I
would like it to read "In honor of Anoushka's biggest fan and head troll"
