If you had to pick just one instrument that you could have recordings of which would it be? For me as a Sarod player my knee jerk is to pick that, but I can't imagine living with out Sarangi in my life. I think I have to go with Sarangi, maybe I should be playing that instead!

Definitely sitar. I play but it really is my favourite ICM instrument, except perhaps for surbahar.

Rudra vin without hesitation. Nowadays my sitars are virtually untouched.

Despite my nickname...it's the Rudra veena... I only play surb when I practise with a pakahawaj-player once a week. The veena has a depth and overtones you won't get out of any other instrument.

Remco - I have to ask - why do you play only play surbahar when you practice with a pakhawaj player? Do you do any practice with the vin with a pakhawaj player?
