I have basic knowledge of bols and can produce it on the instrument with clarity. But when I try to learn and play simple bols in songs my friends are saying that either I'm rushing or I'm too lagging. How to correct this? How much years it will take to accompany a singer??

Addressing the playing in time.

Get some sort of metronome and practice with it. mechanical, electronic, app, equal matra leharas even.

starting with a tempo that seems too slow will help to ground your timing.

playing slow with what you know is not so easy at tempo

a problem I've seen with beginner's is to speed up as they feel comfortable with the bol output and

in a group context the speeders tend to drag everyone else with them.

if you know what they are going to sing, listen to teh ghazal before hand, figure out the taal and play along with it in your own home. They may not render it the same way but you'll get better timing and your practice will be specific to what they are going to sing so you should be able to turn it around quickly.
