So I'm in India, and studying sarod. I'm wondering if there are any grants or foundations that support this sort of activity, as I don't have an income to continually support myself with and getting a job over here is not an option. I'm going to be attending university here next year as well. If anyone could help me out or point me in the right direction, it would be much appreciated.

Thanks
Lakshman

The Ravi Shankar Foundation apparently offers support. See

http://www.ravishankar.org/RSFApplicationProcedure.pdf

The first hurdle, of course, is having the courage (audacity?) to present oneself to the Foundation as one of the very few outstanding young musicians who would deserve their help. How many of us would be willing to think that, let alone put it down on paper?
