I am just getting in to tabla playing and was playing with a friend who is at a similar level with the sitar. I was wondering if anyone had any recording or resources where there is simple (but good) accompanying. I have some Ravi recordings but its a little over my head for me to try an learn anything from it yet. thanks Mike List Central Michigan University Percussion Major

Mike, A couple of years back I had a lot of fun playing alongside some of the tracks in the Raga Guide CD set. Most of the tracks are in drut Teentaal but there are a few in Addha, Ektaal and Jhaptaal. As these are demonstration pieces, the thekas are generally quite clean with embelishments that are fairly short. Even otherwise it is a nice resource and with pieces on flute, sarod and vocal -there is something for everyone. Hope it helps. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000JT5P/104-3266041-4380728?v=glance&n=5174
