The Fosse Sitar is a new carbon fibre electric sitar.
Tony had a hand in the project.
It is very cool and actually sounds pretty great.
You can see the tuning system in the video.

Hi - in response to your enquiry: I assume by nut you mean the targahan, or "nut" = string termination at the headstock end of the fretboard? There appears to be some confusion, I did use cello fine tuners in the headstock of last years model but it was not strictly speaking a fine tuning nut as the fine tuners were in the headstock, not in the nut per se.

The new 2011 moddel Fosse Sitar and Surbahar both have the fine tuners located at the bottom of the tabli plate (body), where the traditional swans often reside. They work wonderfully and are much more accessable and faster to use than they were in the headstock. A video of the new 2011 sitar and surbahar is on the way, I will post the link here as soon as it comes out of the editing. Best to all. GF

No idea what their status is now but they have been around a few years now with their carbon fibre sitar. Their tongue sticking stilleto heeled tanpura is pretty awful looking, though, but the sitars are quite restrained in appearance.
