Hi all,

Should tarab eyelets be glued into the hole? Otherwise how do you get them to stay settled after they come out?

Best,
Neel

one solution is best applied while the sitar is being built. it can also be used after the original eyelets have been installed-provided they are press-fit and not glued.using the trapezoidal end of a file that fits snugly into the eyelet hole, create a tapered hole by twisting it a few times. care must be used here-the goal is to have the end of the eyelet be securely grabbed by the tapered hole. expect refitting/more shaping to get it right. this process, along w/string tension will keep the eyelet in place. you can of course use glue, but there's a variable you can't control-eyelet quality. w/o glue, split eyelets are easily removed. with it-expect a sizeable pain in the ass mess. hope this answers your question.
