Dear Nick,
Thank you so much for sharing this great movie. I was able to download parts 1, 3, 6, 7 & 8, but links for part 2, 4 & 5 don't work anymore. Could you please upload it again or tell me how to manage another way ?

Not sure what I can do as it's being downloaded now. Maybe someone here can upload it to mediafire & give you their link instead.

Hi. I'm new here, and I joined just to thank you so much for making this film available. I've been searching for it for ages, but haven't been able to track it down. FWIW I've just downloaded all of it without problems (haven't checked the files yet, but it seems to be working.). And I was just pointed to your esnips site as well. What a truly amazing collection you have. The fact that you are putting all of this out here is just amazing. Any lover of ICM should hear this. Thank you!

Thanks to a fellow forumite I was contacted by the very director/maker of Dhrupad with this message after requesting my UK copy on DVD. Thought you all might like to see it & comment on how even the MAKER is denied access to his very work by the producers....
Providing it's all true of course...

Hello Nick,

No, the film has never been commercially released. You can now understand why I who made the film am requesting you to kindly send me a DVD of Dhrupad with English sub-titles. The producers, called the Films Division, a Government of India department for production of documentary films, have issued a VLC of poor quality - they are profoundly indifferent about the fate of the film.
I need to urgently preview the film. The DVD must carry English subtitles. My request to a resourceful ****** has reached you.

I've had NO replies back after I asked said poster above some questions about authenticity before sending a DVD copy of Dhrupad.

Seems, as I've had NOTHING back form the guy calling himself Mani Kaul the director of Dhrupad, it may have been some kind of hoax with someone just wanting a copy with subtitles for nothing. Or maybe not?!?!?

I just asked a few questions such as why a person's own work is not available to them & had NO reply in 3 weeks.

So..... Make of that what you will. It may be genuine but why get back to me so quick at the beginning with replies & then suddenly stop?

Interesting Nick. I was just going to ask if there was any further news on this. I'm sure you know that wiki has an entry for him that says he is the Creative Director of the Film House at Osian's Connoisseurs of Art, Mumbai. If he gave that as the address I wonder if there could be an email glitch somewhere? :?:
