BTW what is a 'libertarian'?
The last time I checked today the Wikipedia article on libertarianism wasn't too far off the mark. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Libertarianism .

I'm a libertarian myself as it happens, though not a "libertarian/conservative", and you will find some allusions to libertarian principles in my last responses to Bobu-ji.

I've had two inoffensive posts deleted in two days. Someone here seems to have some kind of seriously puritanical axe to grind. At this rate it's going to become manditory to punctuate every sentence with a smilie. David was always much more liberal, more fair more impartial, more objective and much slower to delete or discontinue a thread. If someone doesn't agree with something I said, then by all means offer a counterpoint. This is an arts-related forum for musicial artists. Nothing is more deadening to the artistic community than narrow-minded censorship by anonymous, faceless entities - who are unnacountable for their actions. Anytime David ever killed a post or deleted a thread - it was clear and obvious why. I challenge the person who deleted my posts to put them back and tell us why they chose to deleted them in such an off-hand manner.

Right-wing conservatism and PC-ism is seeping into this forum and it's really revolting. One of the moderators here is clearly an autocrat with an itchy mouse finger. Whoever you are - you need to look up Moderator and Censor in the dictionary. They are not one and the same.

Wierdly, I started a thread about 2 months ago that was quickly killed. It was regarding what I thought was a fascinating article about how analysis of supernova explosions showed that massive sound waves were produced in the nieghbourhood of middle C, and that these sound waves actually triggered the explosion of the star. I thought that might be of great interest to sitar players (it was to me!), but the thread got axed within a day, and I have no idea why.

Was'nt me. I know Sim90 deleted some post that got kind of outa hand and was basically a thread bashing him/her? But that's crappy that someone who was basically asked to delete those wonderful porn/rape advertisements is making some kind of statement, or so it seems by the previous two posts.

That too bad, Keshav. For my part, the only things I delete, and as I had actually understood it, the only things the mods should be deleting are spam (usually sexual) posts. I average anywhere from 2-9 a day of these daily.

And Rex? Would love to have seen that middle C explosion theory. Any chance of reposting it?

I'm not sure I follow this statement - but to clarify. I'm sure there was no pornographic content in any post from me. And nothing in my posts are in support of pornography on this forum. Thanks for taking the time to let me know that it wasn't yourself doing the censoring. Of the persons moderating - you are the one that I've had a degree of interaction - and having ( I believe) a pretty good sense of who you are - I'd have considered you the least likely candidate.
Respectfully,
Keshav

Just to clarify, Right wing conservative has not to do with PC-ism. In fact I would say that PC censorship comes from the left. As someone that is a libertarian/conservative....I find the charge pretty foolish that this 'evil' righ wing conservatism is an issue on this board. Maybe you should ask David directly instead of hinting at some grand conspiracy. By the way, I have no problem w/ how intense, ugly or non PC the threads are here....And that comes from a registered Republican (GASP!)

Your concerns are understandable and they have been duly noted. Presently there is one Administrator and four Moderators. That means that there might be five different ideas as to what to do with off-topic posts, and five different people who can delete a post without it being able to be retrieved.

If you think that there really needs to be a new forum, then let me know. I will consider it.

Other than that, if you want to be sure that a post is not deleted, then make sure that it is posted in the correct forum. The only way that I can see an on-topic post being deleted is if it becomes a flame war.

Peace

It's not my contention that (ultra) right-wing concervatism and PC-ism are politically synonomous, but rather that they are both equally repugnant, as concerns their being used as platforms to inhibit freedom of expression. I re-read my post and see nothing that implies the existance of any conspiracy. I'm not paranoid. My best guess is that this is the handiwork of an individual who is creating his/her own set of standards that are alien to the original longstanding guidelines of the forum which have traditionally been very liberal, tho not in a knee-jerk fashion. BTW I did ask David but he has not had a chance to reply, and frankly, I got a bit impatient - hence my direct appeal to the forum.
Peace,
Keshav

Dear David,
..........Thanks for your reply. Certainly - I think there are more than enough forums to cover all topics.

There was simply no reason to delete these. If the moderator has issues with the post - I suggest they have the courtesy and the substance of person - to at the very least make some attempt to justify a deletion.
Thank-You,
Keshav

Hey Keshav,

I see what you mean. Any political idealogy that starts w/ 'ultra' is definitely going to be repugnant whether from the left or the right.

OK...lets get back to some civil discussions like: who is better Vilayat Khan or Nikhil Banerjee!??

I have only deleted blatant spam from this forum. While a few folks have got a little bit hot under the collar here and there, generally the posts here seem to have been very well mannered since I became a moderator. Censorship is definitely NOT my agenda, but I sure do LOVE destroying spam!

Our e-mails are in the forum anyway so is it not possible to send a PM or something saying why a post is removed. Courtesy???
I put one on about my experience with Sanjay in Delhi when a post talked about pricings there & with his father &, despite being totally relevant, it was removed. WHY????

Hey, Mr. Monkey. It has been made clear by the pro RR police that any statement that does not follow the ring kissing philosophy will be in line for the axe. Did you read a few weeks back how Lars attempted to create a rectal detour for me ? It's great to support your favorite sitar builders. Justification of price gouging I still cannot see. Anyway, RR pricing policies are a taboo subject on the forum. Be careful !!!
