I have spent some time online searching for this sitar to no luck. I don't know much about it regarding origin or when it was purchased.

No idea who the maker is. But it looks like a cheaper design to me. You can see because there is not much detail in the decorations for example. Can still be a nice sounding sitar though.

Generic older student sitar, 70's maybe? The flattened spiral pegs were popular around that time, my Hiren Roys have them.

It what we 'in the trade' call a Lucknow wallah meaning the cheapo end of the market.

As has been said - it can STILL be quite good, cross fingers ?!?!?!

I have a very similar sitar, same carving on the gourd and same peg design. I had Tony check it out. He never said anything about
Lucknow but he did mention "Deli Rose";-). The sitar has a good sound, but the pegs seem to slip considerably more than my other
sitars, so I keep that one tuned to C.

When I said Lucknow sitar, 'we' use that term to describe a cheaply made instrument made ANYWHERE but was so often FROM that area.

Not all lesser sitars are made there & some WILL be excellent too !!!
Is it possible to post pics of yours, please?
