I be seeking Karuna #20 tanpura strings. They come individually packaged and look like the image below.

Also seeking Karuna Veena string sets. Posting that in the Carnatic Section.

Please let me know if you have or can get these. PM is fine or answer here is fine.

Thanks

Povster,
I have Gents and Ladies tanpura sizes here. I haven't seen the the #20 or heard of it. They're good strings for the price but I have to tell you the Karuna guys aren't really string experts by any means, they do what everyone else in Kolkata does. They buy the string in the marketplace and package it but by all other respects a bunch of country bumpkin entrepreneurs ... The wire is usually bulk imported European wire, if you have the gauges, etc. I can compare it to the tanpura sets I have here from them.

Lars - thanks. The gauge for this is .032". It is double-wound (flat wound and quite smooth for a wound string). I have the 18 which I and my rudra vin teacher use the 18 for rudra vin kharaj.

They may be coutry bumpkins but I have been getting Karuna 18 for my rudra vin and my teacher's (for the kharaj) for a few years now and I have to say the strings are consistent and and of excellent quality.

Dang! If you can get some of this .032" double wound (aka flat wound) it would be a fine thang!

This is mainly for my rudra vin teacher'S Pancham string. On my own rudra vin I like the plain old .028 phosphor/bronze for the pANCHAM.

Thanks, Lars.

Povster, if you want a flat wound should I see about the Pyramids? It's their specialty...be happy to check on it if you want.

Thanks Lars. Please do. But it must be long enough for rudra vin. Figure about 55" - 58" as an initial length to see if they have or can do it. One of those metal "donuts" at the base where one can thread the string through would be nice but maybe not necessary. So as I say, at least initial inquiry with these specs. Feel free to PM me.

Povster,
I just talked to them, will have some .032 made by Pyramid as Peter Row has asked for some also. Must be in the air.... length is not a problem as they'll make them however I want but need to get a consistent length that suits everyone. Also do I put on the ball end or is it to be hand looped? You can email me through my site if you like, also any other gauges while I'm at it?
