Does anyone know if it is possible to buy only an upper tumba. My sitar hasn't one and I would like to try it. How much would it be cost?

Thank you

Hi Dirk
I think I might be in the best position to answer this as I'm arranging a replacement upper toombi for a fellow Brit in the UK.
My 'man' here will make one from an actual natural gourd &, given a pic of wanted style or shot of sitar design style, can reproduce the matching carving. Price will depend on said carving & price to be arranged including postage to Germany. A 'collar' will be included. That's the bit that the toombi screws into & is itself screwed to the back of the sitar neck.

PM if you'd like to show a pic or here if you'd like to show us all your sitar.

Hi Nick,
how much will the tumba cost, in round numbers? I think if it would specially carve for my sitar it is maybe too expensive for me.

Can you give me an idea of your budget as I don't think this is anywhere near as expensive as you think it is?
I'll PM you my email address & you can send me a shot of your sitar.

http://www.instrumentalsavings.com in Florida, USA sells individual upper toombas, so a search on line may bring up more sellers.

Thanks for sharing the info although THESE toombis are ALL wood type & none match his design of Kamal or Lotus. And he wants a natural toomba.
