Dear fellow gurus and shishyas of Indian music,

I am happy to announce the January 2010 launch of WorldMusicGuru (http://www.worldmusicguru.com), a new, open site providing Indian music lessons on Skype to the worldwide community. Students will be able to browse guru profiles, select a guru, purchase lesson, (re)schedule lessons, and take lessons - all online. Lessons will be strictly live, one-on-one lessons - no pre-recorded videos, group lessons, etc. As a global service, anyone in almost any country can be a student or guru on this site.

Incidentally, my son and I have taken tabla lessons on Skype from Pune, India for the past year, which has saved us countless hours in travel time as well as fuel costs, and also inspired the launch of WorldMusicGuru.

After you have seen the site, I'd love to hear your feedback. Just fill out the student or guru form on the website, or email or Skype me.

Warm regards,

Raj

Hi everyone,

WorldMusicGuru is now open for student and guru registration (see ad on this site)! Students who register by Jan 22 will be entered in a prize drawing for one month of free, live, online lessons from Charter Gurus. Gurus have until Jan 22 to register in the Charter Guru program. About 40 gurus have already enrolled to teach via Skype from around the world.

We are still looking for sarod, mridangam, ghatam, and sarangi gurus. Other instruments are well represented but more gurus are absolutely welcome.

Regards,

Raj

We should give some support. There is room for all of us ~ we are not competing ~ we are playing for the Divine to become the DIVINE. You will not get so many responses because of the obvious ~ "The times they are a changin" ~ I for one appreciate and love the Idea. Ustad Ikram Khan will teach Sarangi as I have said as well as others.
