Another beautiful Burma teak sarod from the erstwhile Gopal Sharma workshop! Built in the 1950s, this sarod is an absolutely gorgeous instrument with huge amounts of sustain, a bright, weighty tone and is ideal for an Amjad Ali Khan or Radhubabu style player. The photos on my Flickr page are pre-restoration images and once restored, the sarod will look like my concert sarod (photos provided) . There is one flaw – one of the chikari pegs is not an original, and will be replaced during the finish restoration process (which included scrapping the present finish and giving it a few fresh ultra-thin coats of French polish). We’ll put a new fingerboard on it, change the skin, and give the pegs a full overhaul. The mother of pearl strips may be replaced with ebony, rosewood or teakwood. And yes, this sarod is up for sale. $1350 to your doorstep in Europe or North America, inclusive of four jabas of my design, and a fiberglass case with wheels.
