Ravi Shankar style sitar made by Barun Ray bought it 2-3 years back from Ali Akbar College for $2600 play it maybe 20 times, this sitar is in great condition and it wasn't used much, no cracks or dents, missing Tumba but has a mount to put one... just need a little cleaning and maybe change of main string for smooth play, asking $1995 + shipping I am including fiberglass case(which is better from the case I got it with originally)...please feel free to ask any questions...

It looks like Barun's standard badge to me. Nice sitar.

Stick-on transfer? Not in the least. It is a real badge. I guess you haven't seen the real Barun badge he's been using the past few years. It is actually quite handsome as it blends nicely with the dark tones of a typical Barun sitar.

Actually there has been more than one "original badge" of Hiren Roy over the years. Just as in the antique trade, one looks at the details of the item first and badge last as badges/signatures etc. are too easy to to fake or swap.

Regarding this one, In his earlier days Barun used the last white/gold lettering badge but switched to this one. It is a plate like the old ones but a different color, which, as I mentioned, matches his color scheme beautifully.

This is a long shot, but by any chance do you still have the sitar for sale?  Where are you located?  I'm in Marin in California.

Thanks,
Christopher
